SMITHERS OASIS is also a sponsor of the World Cup! They are best known for their floral foam. But times are changing: the new types of floral foam are made of natural products. But there’s a lot more. The main changes have to do with sustainability.

The central theme of the World Cup is sustainability. OASIS is a company that innovates: this means to react in the demands of society. Their new products are sustainable. Besides flower foam, it is possible to work in tubes or glasses. This is only possible if you use a good technique. The water in a tube is less then in foam or a container. The flowers have to be fixed save. I do this with this wire. It has a natural appearance. In my preparation, I use a more tiny wire as well.

A good technique is very important. When you use flowers, the quality of your technique should be high. Using a poor technique makes the arrangement look poor. OASIS is always a good help in choosing your technique. This can be floral foam or tubes. It is up to you (and your customers) what to choose.

To show a product of innovation, I think the ‘Terra Brick’ is a good example. It is made of plant material and it is very nice to work with. As well as the new ‘black’ foam wich is more a design product. This means there are product for different groups of flower designers.
